Scholarly Congratulations

One of the keystone principles of any chamber of commerce is to help improve and maintain a healthy business climate for its members. This is achieved not only for the sake of business and the common good of today, but also so that future generations may prosper. It was with that in mind that the MVCCC held its annual scholarship and awards mixer on Wednesday, July 7 at Jenkins Properties Management at 2626 Honolulu Ave. The community’s most brilliant young students were awarded scholarships that will help them thrive in the world of tomorrow and allow them to become functional and contributing members of the community and society at large. So it is with great pride that the MVCCC awarded Talar Alexanian and Divya Goel $500 scholarships. Our most prestigious scholarship – the Anita Peet Geyer Scholarship – was awarded to Kaitlan Reininger. All these students are alumni of Crescenta Valley High School. We extend a hearty congratulations to them and a deep thanks to the parents and school staff who shaped their character.

Last Saturday was also the perfect weekend for our July 7 Artwalk: just warm enough with a light, fresh breeze. So many great artists and art pieces –  something for every taste could be had. Under the canopy of jacarandas, a whole outdoor museum of local art unfolded along Honolulu.

We also enjoyed music by some great local artists. All in all, it was a great success. Thank you to our Artwalk captain Laurie Jo Philips for organizing such a stellar event. If you’d like to sign up for our Artwalk as an artist or musician, give the MVCCC office a ring at (818) 249-7171.

At our last mixer, I was speaking to one of our new members, Stuart T. Martin, DC of the Martin Family Chiropractic Center at 3795 La Crescenta Ave. in Montrose. He related to me a fascinating fact: one of the fastest growing demographics today is people over the age of 100.

So how can one get in on the ground floor of a long and healthy life? By nurturing your body and ensuring it is treated with care. That’s where Dr. Martin comes in. Not only is he a chiropractic that will help sort out the kinks in your backs; he will also teach you how, through careful upkeep of your body, you too can live the “100 Year Life Style.” Come in to Dr. Martin’s today or make an appointment by calling (323) 459-6736 and mention the “100 Year Life Style” or the MVCCC to get a $115 discount on your visit. Start living right today and give Dr. Martin a call.

Food, entertainment and the fountain of youth: Montrose has it all! Give us a call at the MVCCC at (818) 249-7171 and ask about our upcoming events or how you can improve your business by joining the chamber. Don’t forget to friend us on Facebook.

And as always – shop Montrose!
