The Crescenta Valley varsity boys’ basketball team is in the middle of a busy week of summer league action. The team will have played six games by the end of Friday. As of Wednesday, the Falcons were 4-2 so far this summer, including two victories on Tuesday at Burbank High against Marshall L.A. and Shalhevel High School.
Against Marshall, CV was down 23-20 at halftime before an explosive second half led to a 45-34 win. Against Shalhevel, CV led by three points at half and held on for a 49-45 win.
The Falcons are playing this week without senior guard Journey Shank and junior guard Koko Kechichian, who are nursing minor injuries sustained over the last week. This left Trey Ballard to do most of the ball handling on Tuesday, even though Ballard managed to knock down several three-pointers, which was his calling card last season.
The boys are at Crespi High today at 2 p.m. and then play in a tournament at St. Francis this weekend. Check the schedule at cvhsfalcons.com/athletics.
New players were added to the basketball program this last week after tryouts were held. Tyler Carlson and Danny Khani were selected to play with the JV this summer, while the following names will play the on soph/frosh team: Chuck Meyer, Solomon Kim, Keegam Schmidt, Alexander Arzoumanian, Nate Nutall, Abel Lai, Arin Abrahamian, Luca Tatevosian, Harout Tahanian.
The frosh/soph team plays Monday at Burroughs at 6 p.m. The JV team next plays on Tuesday at Burbank High School at 5 p.m.
