Eric Boyd

Eric Travis Boyd was born on May 12, 1992 to Dawn and Walt Boyd. He attended La Crescenta Elementary School where he learned about scouting from the Farrington family. He became a Cub Scout in Pack 302, led by Kym Jarnot, and was joined by his preschool buddies Sean Jarnot and Keith Sugimura. Eric was bridged into Troop 303, again with his buddies Sean and Keith, and his new friend Joseph. Eric greatly enjoyed the many outings of Troop 303, including his annual dunking at Fishbowls, Camp Makuala, Catalina and Philmont. Eric served on his troop’s leadership committee as Librarian, Scribe, ASPL and SPL. He completed his Eagle Scout project in May 2009, leading a team of volunteers who affixed labels with reading levels to the entire fiction collection at LCES’s library. In addition to Scouting, Eric played AYSO soccer, ran the L.A. Marathon with SRLA in 2006 and frequently negotiated more time on his X-Box.  At Crescenta Valley High School he played four years of volleyball, three with the varsity, and is a four-year Scholar-Athlete. He graduated in June with a 4.2 GPA. He is the 2010 winner of the Falcon Award of Excellence, CVHS’s highest honor, as well as the male scholastic athlete recipient of the Glendale ACE award for character and ethics. He will attend UCLA in the fall.

Joseph Natalizio

Joseph Dominic Natalizio was born on June 12, 1992 to Mary and Matt Natalizio in Los Angeles. He attended Montrose Christian Montessori School and Mayfield Junior School before matriculating to St. Francis High School. At St. Francis he was a member of the National Honor Society and played soccer and volleyball. His Scouting career began as a Wolf Scout in Den 3 Pack 302 at Monte Vista School and continued through Webelos, when he ultimately received the Arrow of Light Award and bridged to Troop 303 in 2003.

With Troop 303 he attended summer camps at Makualla, Mataguay, Fiesta Island, and Cherry Valley. He also attended the 2005 National Scout Jamboree with the Western Los Angeles County Council Troop 931. The backpacking trips in Troop 303 are where he discovered his passion for backpacking, camping and climbing. Highlights of his scouting career include the trek across Catalina Island in 2007 and the climbs of Half-Dome, Mt. San Jacinto, Mt. San Gorgonio and Baldy Mountain. He also was the crew leader of Crew 810 P1 on the Philmont Scout Ranch Trek in 2007; den chief, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, scribe, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader.

Joseph thanks Messrs. Bates, Bell, Decker, Godwin and Ringel for all of their patience. His Eagle project was to collect and distribute kitchen wares to the Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children.

Joseph will be attending the Ohio State University in the fall.

Sean Jarnot

Sean Robert Jarnot was born on Jan. 22, 1992 in Glendale. He has grown up in the La Crescenta area attending Montrose Christian Montessori School, then Pasadena Christian School, and Maranatha High School. He began his scouting career attending Cub Scout meetings with his brother as a youngster then became a Tiger Cub in Pack 302 at age 6. As a Cub he received his Arrow of Light and World Conservation awards.

When it was time to advance, Sean elected to bridge into Troop 303, chartered by St. Luke’s of the Mountains. During his tenure as a Scout he has held positions in the Troop of assistant patrol leader, patrol leader and historian. He also worked side by side to help members of his Troop achieve the rank advancement of Eagle. Sean’s Eagle project consisted of renovating a portion of his high school in cooperation with Dave Ekstrand and fellow Scouts and friends, which will ultimately be used as an outdoor area for sitting and eating.

Memorable moments in Scouting include trekking from Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite Valley with a side trip to Half Dome; hiking to Havasupai Falls in the Grand Canyon; hiking over Catalina Island; river rafting with Troop 21 of San Gabriel Valley Council, attending Philmont Lost Valley, Cherry Valley, Camp Fiesta, and Camp Makuala. While participating in Scouting, Sean has been able to keep a GPA over 3.0.  After high school Sean plans to study mechanical engineering and business at San Diego State University, hoping to start his own company eventually.
