After several months of planning and many volunteer hours and efforts by the club’s Ticktockers, patronesses and committee members, the National Charity League – Glendale Chapter held a blood drive on July 10.

The annual From the Heart blood drive, co-sponsored with the American Red Cross, met the club’s goal of at least 120 donors to celebrate its 10-year milestone. There were 109 units of blood collected saving 327 lives. This marked one of the largest blood drives in the local region. It was held at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Red Cross was on-site to collect whole blood and double red cell donations. The event also featured a raffle for donors, healthy snacks and dozens of homemade cookies, baked by the chapter’s Ticktockers.

Overall it took 60 Ticktockers to address invitations, prepare thank you notes decorate goody bags, 10 mother/daughter pairs to promote the event in the community by distributing flyers, 30 Ticktockers baked cookies while 50 Ticktockers provided other healthy snacks and drinks, 11 patronesses and 15 Ticktockers volunteered time to staff the blood drive, two patronesses delivered leftover cookies, snacks and drinks to other NCL philanthropies (Ascencia and Union Station).

This year, the NCL Blood Drive Committee of Hilary Fausett, Kara Sergile, Laura Buchanan and Priscilla Musso coordinated the event.
