Friends, Restauranteurs Share their Love of Food
Rest Farmhouse Inspired, our newest start-up, is not so new when it comes to experience. Both owners Theresa and Kristina have decades of experience in food preparation and they’ve worked together closely for the past 10 years. Their primary goal is to serve you up something real special – with their own flavorful twist.

Rest - Farmhouse Inspired

Opening their first restaurant together, chefs Theresa Rosette and Kristina Evans use the purest organic ingredients from locally grown sources for their Bistro and Chef Services – fresh fruit and vegetables from established growers and, for your meat lovers, not to fret – organic grass fed beef. They also offer Paleo-friendly and gluten-free options that are all prepared with the chefs’ special touch to make you want more.

Rest fosters an atmosphere where people feel good. Meeting with family and friends around the table, they say, is always a good thing, both inside their establishment and at home. Recalling the days when families were more cohesive, bringing the family together around the table is their motto. Good food, good memories. If you want a good, flavorful healthy food source when you’re too busy, Rest offers their chef’s services so you can take the meal home to your family.

Rest suggests that you’ll enjoy this week’s specials. Some menu items include beef-and-chicken-bone broth, a roasted beet salad, and house-made jams like the famous bacon jam used in the Parisian sandwich with brie on sourdough. They serve fresh pastries and Annaboo sodas, named after their creator, Evans’ daughter Anna. The Earl of Montrose soda is made with lavender simple syrup, club soda and Earl Grey tea with lemon. The menu features daily “Chef’s Creations,” and this week was slow-cooked mocha-rubbed, grass-fed beef roast served with baked sweet potato.

Evans has two daughters, ages 15 and 13, while Rosette has three sons, ages 17, 15 and 12.

“We couldn’t do this without our husbands’ and children’s support,” Rosette said.

“We like to think of our menu as rustic French,” Evans said. “Join us for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Take a closer look at our retail space, a comfortable setting that offers products from skill tools in kitchenware, signature spice blends, glassware and linens, plant-based detergents… Browse the store and see for yourself! The restaurant, located at 2420 Honolulu Ave., is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.”

This week our Sunday Market features creative handmade pottery by Jim Heuston, unique jewelry by Deep Forest’s Joanne Norton, beautiful African Violet plants, sweet corn and juicy ripe peaches, plums and nectarines in our farm section.

Musical entertainment for our shoppers is the very popular Honolulu Avenue Strummers.
