“The Lost World” was a marvel of stop-motion special effects when it premiered in 1925. Based on the 1912 novel of the same name by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this film followed the intrepid explorers who go deep into the jungles of South America to rescue a fellow Englishman who has been trapped on a plateau where dinosaurs and ape men still walk the Earth.

At the Alex Theatre in Glendale, dinosaurs and explorers walked through the audience before a screening of the silent film, which was shown with live accompaniment by Alexander Rannie. Rannie played the original set list of music that was released with the film, including “The Lost World Love Theme” that was written for the movie.
