CV Juniors Baseball Wins Section Championship

The Crescenta Valley Juniors Baseball All Stars won a Section 2 Championship over Northridge Little League 17-2 at Tujunga Little League on July 12.
Starting pitcher Brian Harley went four-and-a-third innings on 63 total pitches, striking five batters and also had a double at the plate for the Crescenta Valley All-Stars.

Vincent Parrott led the hitting attack with a double and triple and scored twice while catcher Chad Ruf went to the plate four times and scored twice to go along with four RBIs on the night.

Trent Steele had a RBI double on two hits and CV’s No. 2 hitters of first basemen Chase Smith and substitute Will Hardy combined for four walks, scoring on three.

Others who contributed to the win included players David Melendez, Andrew Boyle, Ian McCloskey, Sam Kunz, Isaac Sung, Devon Ramaker, Chris Lawson and Harrison Choi.

Coming off the Section 2 tournament win on July 12, Crescenta Valley met Mountain View, Ontario Section 3 champions in the Santa Paula Little League tournament on July 16. Despite a strong fight, CV took a 13-5 loss to Mountain View that sent the CV All Stars to the elimination bracket where they faced Section 5 titleholder Golden Hill of Fullerton on Sunday afternoon.

Harley pitched a complete game giving up only four hits, three runs, nine strikeouts, and no walks to help CV get the win.

Smith drove in the first run, one of two scored by Parrot. McClusky had a double and Ramaker drove in a run on a pinch-hit single.

CV next faced Redondo Beach at the Santa Paula Little League Fields on Wednesday. Scores were not available as of press time.
