On Wednesday, the Glendale Police Dept. arrested a local laser hair removal business owner for allegedly sexually assaulting his clients.
The investigation was reported in August 2015 when a 31-year-old female victim told police that her laser hair removal technician had inappropriately touched her private areas. The suspect in the case was identified as 48-year-old Antonio Nozar (aka Ali Nozar) of Glendale. Detectives learned that Nozar was actually the owner and sole employee of the Smooth Skin Laser Clinic located in the 1000 block of E. Broadway in Glendale.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned Nozar was neither a medical physician nor a registered nurse who is licensed to use laser to remove hair as required by law. Instead, Nozar was using a doctor’s name allegedly in order to make his business appear legitimate on his website. The 76-year-old doctor was reportedly receiving money from Nozar for his name to be used. However, he reportedly never met nor consulted with any of the victims that have come forward.
The detectives who have been investigating this case also learned that there was another similar report from a different victim in 2009. However, the case was rejected by the district attorney’s office due to insufficient evidence.
The most recent case was reported on Aug. 12 of this year by a 28-year-old female victim; in this case the suspect became more brazen.
The GPD arrested Nozar in his Glendale home on Wednesday for multiple charges of sexual battery and for operating his business without a proper license. There is also an active arrest warrant for the doctor for unlawful practice of medicine.
The GPD believes there may be additional victims in this case and are urging anyone with additional information to call (818) 548-4991.
