One is Silver and the Other is Gold
We’re making new friends here at the Chamber and we’re learning new things about old friends. Here are the latest members to join the Chamber family.
Back to Basics Fitness just opened a new location at 2914 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta. President Gail Medina and Coach Arturo Arvizu keep their clients motivated and strong by offering numerous fitness disciplines. They specialize in resistance training, core and stability, strength and endurance, plyometrics, sports nutrition, self defense, speed and agility, explosive power and corrective exercises. They utilize power bands, kettleballs, TRX, sand bags, battling ropes, sleds, agility ladders, trampolines, free weights and more. Their motto is, “If we don’t specialize in it, then we don’t teach it.”
Not only are Gail and Arturo good motivators, they’re good people. They run B2B Fit Kids Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) committed to ending childhood obesity through an anti-bullying self-defense boxing program. This program is free to all children 6 to 11 years of age. They also partner with community members such as Sweat Angels, Girl Scouts, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, Operation 300, Gold Star Teen Adventures, and now the CV Chamber.
We invite everyone to join us as we cut the red ribbon and welcome them to their new studio on Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. Once again, the address is 2914 Foothill, next to JR Hardware, Sash & Door.
The second member to join the Chamber this month is Friends of Rockhaven. I’m sure the name is not new to readers because President Joanna Linkchorst and a crew of volunteers have been working diligently the past few years getting the word out about Montrose’s historical gem, Rockhaven Sanitarium. Friends of Rockhaven helps to educate the public on the importance of Rockhaven Sanitarium. They hold tours of the property, help to clean and repair the property, and fundraise to help preservation efforts. Ultimately, they hope to work with the City of Glendale to rehabilitate Rockhaven and open it as a public park and community center.
Check out Friends of Rockhaven’s website at www.friendsofrockhaven.org to learn more about the property’s interesting past and to sign up for an upcoming tour or clean-up day.
