After School Activities in Montrose

This week’s edition of the Montrose Shopping Park news highlights businesses catering to kids. “Teach them well and let them lead the way” (lyrics from “Greatest Love of All”). With summer over and school back in full swing, it’s a good time to keep busy with after-school activities.

Kids will have fun showing off their creative talents at Color Me Mine, expressing themselves through the love of art. Here’s how it works: They pick a ceramic piece and paint it. They glaze and fire it and make it permanent.

“It’s a really fun activity to do with friends and family,” said owner/manager Gaya Garidyan. “We just received our first shipment of Halloween ceramic pieces, which is something to look forward to and exciting for this time of the year.” Color Me Mine is a wonderful place for kids and adults where everyone is an artist.

Another great place to build artistic talents is Kids Art. The primary mission of Kids Art is to teach a quality program where students thrive through learning to draw, paint and create three-dimensional art. Gradually, step-by-step at their own pace, the teaching techniques make kids more competent and skilled as they progress through the exercises. Good for self-confidence, available for ages 4-plus and adults. First timers receive a free introductory class!

For the intelligent and athletic, enroll your child in tutoring at Ocean View Learning Center or in one of their many fitness programs. The shopping park also has Revolution Dance Studios, Fred Villari’s Studio of Self Defense, Helen’s Dance Studio, Master’s Tae Kwon Do, and coming soon is Little Rascals Clubhouse. Keep that heart pumping and those brain muscles working!

For the musically inclined, Grayson’s Tune Town has been providing friendly music lessons since 1980. They believe anyone who has even the smallest desire can learn to play an instrument whether guitar, drums, woodwinds, horns, violin or just about any popular instrument. Meet their new piano teacher Emily Cohn.

According to Grayson’s, “Our priority has always been to give our students the chance to explore their creativity through the gift of music, no matter what the age or skill level.” As an added bonus, students receive an extra 10% off all purchases.
