GO-2016 presents a special opportunity for the public to get a behind the scenes look at the city’s rich culture, diversity, and creativity. GO-2016, the Glendale Open Studio Tour, is a free two-day self-guided event that highlights several creative hubs within the city’s boundaries. GO-2016 takes place Oct. 15 and Oct. 16.

Tour-goers will be invited into the mind and space of local artists and gain special access to current exhibits, creative co-working spaces and performing arts studios. Tour maps will be provided by event producers 11:11 A Creative Collective at Pacific Park Library (501 S. Pacific Ave.) between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on both days.

GO-2016 is a unique and insightful experience for all art lovers and visitors get to meet a wide variety of artists and craftspeople in their studios, some of which are only open to the general public during this event. Stops will include commercial and residential studios as well as public art throughout the city.

Over a dozen artists will also display their work in an open air art market in the main courtyard at Pacific Park Library. Guests can visit the grounds of the Brand Library & Art Center (1601 W. Mountain St.) and be able to visit the current exhibit “Brand 44: The 44th Brand Annual National Juried Exhibition.” The winner of this year’s juried exhibition, Alex Babajanyan will also open up his studio (located at 318 N. Brand Blvd. Unit D) to GO-2016 for a closer look into his process and masterful artwork.

Participating commercial studios include Cope Studios (926 Western Ave.), a 13,000 SF facility that houses 38 diverse artists in all mediums and housing all scopes of creativity ranging from painting, sculpting, and drawing to animation and illustration as well as puppeteers, prop makers, writers, and costumers.

Community Woodshop and Molten Metal Works (located at 3617 San Fernando Road) will provide tour-goers with the opportunity to learn about workshops where they can create their own furniture and artwork. Michael Egede-Nissen (431 E. Mountain St.), a precisionist painter who explores the iconography of the industrial aesthetic, will also be opening up his residential studio.

Additional stops on the tour include MONA, Creative Lounge, GEO Gallery, Tufenkian Fine Arts, Armenian Arts, Roslin Art Gallery, & The Hummingbird Conservatory for the Arts, among others.
