Median Plans on CVTC Meeting Roster

By Mary O’KEEFE

The Crescenta Valley Town Council meeting is tonight, Thursday, at 7 p.m. in the La Crescenta Library community room, 2809 Foothill Blvd.

It is an important meeting to attend for those in the community who are concerned about the median project along Foothill Boulevard. The original number of medians planned for the boulevard has been reduced since the completion of a traffic study by Los Angeles County. Lisa Woung from the county will be at tonight’s meeting to address these changes and answer questions from the council and the community.

Candidate for the L.A. County Board of Supervisors Darrell Park will also be at the meeting. He is running for the seat long held by Supervisor Michael Antonovich, who has been termed out and is now running for a state senate seat. Park’s opponent is Kathryn Barger and Antonovich’s opponent is Anthony Portantino.

The CVTC is also reaching out to the community to attend the upcoming Sagebrush meetings scheduled by the L.A. County Office of Education. They are being held on Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. at the La Cañada Unified School District office, 4490 Cornishon Ave., and on Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Crescenta Valley High School MacDonald Auditorium in the 4400 block of Ramsdell Avenue.

Sagebrush is the far west portion of La Cañada Flintridge. Students living in that area currently attend schools within the Glendale Unified District including Mountain Avenue Elementary, Rosemont Middle and Crescenta Valley High schools. In recent years a group of La Cañada residents, UniteLCF, has advocated for Sagebrush students to no longer be required to attend GUSD schools but to be able to transfer to LCUSD.
