Birdwalk on the Riverwalk
All are invited for the annual bird watching trek on Dec. 3 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. along the Los Angeles River in the City of Glendale. This is a rare opportunity to spend time watching the birds that are on the river during the fall and winter months.
Leader for the morning is Alexander deBarros from the San Fernando Valley Audubon Society.
Please bring binoculars and a camera to view and capture photos. Participants are asked to wear sturdy shoes, protective clothing, long pants, hat and sun protection. Reserve a spot on the hike by calling (818) 548-3795.

Rosemont Preserve Open Gate Morning
All are invited for an “open gate” event at the Rosemont Preserve on Sunday morning, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. This is a chance to visit the Preserve and wander the trail, enjoying the tranquil setting, the wildlife and the natural beauty. Photographers, bring your camera to capture the early morning light.
Friends of the Rosemont Preserve Committee members will be available to answer questions.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Please wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages, no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

Open House Held For GCC Uniquely Abled Academy
An open house for the Glendale Community College Uniquely Abled Academy will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Student Center.
The Uniquely Abled Academy is a 16-week program that teaches those with high functioning autism how to be CNC (computer numerical controlled) manufacturing machinists. The program includes CNC training, job readiness skills training, job search support and post-hire support.
The open house gives access to information about the program, career possibilities, expected salaries and a chance to meet representatives from supporting agencies. There will be panel presentations, UAA Cohort 1 student demonstrations of CNC machine operations, a tour of the manufacturing shop, labs and classrooms as well of the engineering design manufacturing hub where classes will be held.

College Plans Orchestra Concert
The Glendale College Community Orchestra will give a concert on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. in the Auditorium.
Bethany Pflueger is the conductor. The program will feature works by De Falla, Respighi and Dvorak.
