That’s Darling Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting
There’s a new children’s apparel store in town and everything they carry is “darling.” Please join the Montrose Chamber as we welcome That’s Darling to the community! We will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 9 at noon with light snacks and a sneak peak of the store. Then we invite you to come back on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to shop and enjoy its grand opening celebration. It will have balloon/face artistry from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., sweets and treats for the early birds, a small gift with purchase to the first 50 people and it is offering a 10% off coupon you can find on its Facebook page.
Located at 3823 Ocean View Blvd. in Montrose, That’s Darling is selling a wide range of items from special occasion clothing, comfy clothing, shoes, toys, socks, jewelry for kids, hats and more. Owner June Kim is no stranger to the industry of children’s apparel. Read on to find out what inspired her to open this “darling” store in the town of Montrose.
“I have always been interested in retail. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs (in La Crescenta), I knew early in life I wanted to own my own business. When I was a baby, my parents sold toys at the swap meet and then worked hard to later become successful in the garment manufacturing business. I remember as a child I would be at my mom’s clothing store on Saturdays, climbing the clothing racks like it was a jungle gym or at my dad’s manufacturing company where I would fall asleep to the sound of sewing and fabric cutting machines.
“As I grew up I realized how big and amazing the juvenile clothing industry was. There were so many great products and it was just endless. I began my career working at a kid’s product store in Los Angeles called Kidsland. There I developed a passion for sharing the information and knowledge I knew with other moms to help them find the best product for them.
“But my greatest inspiration to open my new store started when I was very young. I remember there was a store I would always go to with my mom for every special occasion we had – a birthday, a wedding, someone else’s birthday, etc. I really loved it there and have fond memories of that place. My wish is to create a place here in Montrose where families can come to find a nice gift or something really unique for themselves, their friends and their families. I hope that this store can become that store that everyone remembers going to as a child. I want to bring shopping back to the stores and make it worth it for customers to engage as opposed to buying online. I want to bring the ‘old school’ back! My core values will be on sharing knowledge, having special and unique merchandise, good customer service, trust and communication and, most importantly, building community in Montrose! I want my store to be there for all your adorable needs, catering to the unique and modern family.
“I am starting small, so I currently will be carrying a 0-8 year old range. So please stop by and see what we have and do some holiday shopping. I would love to meet you.”
