Hate Crime Hits Montrose

By Mary O’KEEFE

Glendale police are investigating a hate crime after a family on Pickens Avenue in Montrose discovered a swastika with the word “Trump” painted on their garage door and a note threatening the family to keep their children from “our” property “or there will be consequences.”

“We are investigating the incident,” said Glendale Police Officer Robert William.

The incident is considered a hate crime because of the language in the letter left at the scene and the vandalism on the garage door.

Police are investigating evidence found at the scene. The family is of mixed race but, according to William, they said they have no idea who would have an issue with them. They said they have always gotten along with their neighbors and others in the community. The family is surprised that this type of hate was directed at them.

Anyone who may information concerning this crime is encouraged to contact GPD at (818) 548-4911.
