Cookie Con

By Charly SHELTON

It’s that time of year again … the time in mid-February to indulge in cookies and candy and pastries and chocolate and sweets of all kinds. No, not Valentine’s Day; I mean something really important. It’s almost time for the LA Cookie Con and Sweets Show.

Once a year, the Los Angeles Convention Center fills one of its halls with candied fruit, chocolate covered bacon, sweet treats from around the world and every kind of cookie and baked treat imaginable, all for the enjoyment of the lucky ticket-holders who come by and sample each and every one.

I attended the con last year and gorged myself on chocolate crème cakes, bacon jerky, bacon wrapped Rice Krispy Treats, jams, jellies, pickles, chocolate chip cookies and even one mishap with a dessert spray on a tissue that wasn’t exactly edible. Last year’s show sold out and this year’s show is even bigger.

So those who like cakes, cookies or any kind of sweets, this is the place for you but you must get your tickets now. For more information and to get tickets, visit LACookieCon.com, and to read the review of last year’s show, visit CVWeekly.com and search “Cookie Con.”
