CSF Announces Scholarship Opp
The Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge (CSF) has announced that the 2017 scholarship applications are now available. CSF is a community-supported foundation established in 1964 with the goal of enabling any student to attend college, university, or a trade/technical school upon completion of his or her secondary school studies. Fulltime students who attend La Cañada High School, Flintridge Preparatory School, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, Hillside School and Learning Center, Saint Francis High School and Crescenta Valley High School, regardless of home residency, are eligible to apply for scholarships.
CSF scholarships range up to $5,000 per student. Last year, CSF awarded scholarships totaling $25,000. In addition, CSF provided recognition awards to students selected by teachers at their respective schools to recognize outstanding character. Since 1964, CSF has awarded over $1 million in scholarships, benefitting over 800 families. If a scholarship recipient continues to meet the criteria, he or she may reapply yearly for a renewal of their CSF scholarship.
Minimum criteria for eligibility include a 3.0 unweighted grade point average along with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Rose Linda Gonzales, vice president of scholarships, encourages eligible high school seniors to check with his or her college counselor or visit the CSF website at http://www.csflacanada.org. All financial information is strictly confidential and is made available only to a third-party professional consultant. Scholarships will be granted on the basis of academic achievement as well as references, community service and character. Scholarships are awarded for one year, but may be renewed for each year of college, or trade/technical school.
For more details, consult the CSF website.
All completed applications, along with reference reports and FAFSA form, must be received by April 30. Award recipients will be notified in May, and awards will be sent directly to the recipients’ schools of choice.
Scholarship applications can be downloaded from the CSF’s website at http://www.csflacanada.org, or obtained at the college counseling offices of La Cañada High School, Flintridge Preparatory School, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, Hillside School and Learning Center, Saint Francis High School, and Crescenta Valley High School.
