Spiritual Music Highlights LCPC Concert
Spiritual music from the American heartland will be given full expression when the La Cañada Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir and Orchestra presents “Feel the Spirit,” a special concert on Palm Sunday, April 9 at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
LCPC’s 60-voice choir and 55-member orchestra will explore American spirituals and hymns that showcase African-American culture and other musical influences in the nation’s rich musical heritage. “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” “When the Saints Go Marching In” and “Amazing Grace” will be among the songs presented in a wide-ranging program that will include vocal soloists Rebecca Sjowall, Diane Wallace, Matthew Thomas and Gregory Geiger, as well as bagpiper John McLean Allan.
Jack Lantz will conduct the choir and orchestra.
Videos and artwork projections will add visual depth to many of the musical selections, creating a multimedia experience for those in attendance.
Suggested donation for adults is $20, which will include a free CD of the concert. Children are free. Childcare will be provided at no charge for very young children.
The church is located at 626 Foothill Blvd. For additional information, call the church office at (818) 790-6708.
