CV Softball, Baseball Cruising Along

Infielder Peyton Hause can’t throw anyone out in the third inning allowing Burbank to load the bases.

The Crescenta Valley High softball team won its home game against Burbank on Tuesday, 5-2, improving its Pacific League mark to 5-0, and 13-5-1 overall record. CV is ahead of Burroughs and Arcadia, which are both 4-1.

The Falcons jumped out to an early lead, scoring a run in each of the first two innings. Burbank came back and scored a run in the top of the third, but it could have been much worse; the Bulldogs had the bases loaded with only one out.

The Falcons broke it open in the bottom of the frame. Leading 3-1, Alyssa Hernandez smashed a two-run homer off of pitcher Alyssa Porras as it sailed over the left field fence. Burbank would score just one more run.

CV hosts the Muir Mustangs today at 3:30 p.m. Next week, the team is at Hoover on Tuesday, and Arcadia next Thursday.

The CV baseball team continues to cruise as it defeated Pasadena on Tuesday, 8-3. The Falcons are 5-0 in league, and 16-1 overall. Anthony Russo had a home run with three runs batted in against the Bulldogs.

Last week, pitcher Trevor Beer no-hit the Hoover Tornadoes in a 10-0 win at Stengel. He also struck out 15 batters. The Falcons are tied atop league with Arcadia (5-0), one game ahead of Burbank and Burroughs (both 4-1).

The Falcons take on Pasadena again on Tuesday at PHS at 3:30 p.m.
