A Runway With No Airplanes
Sometimes a runway is not about air travel. Sometimes it is about fashion. And in the Montrose Shopping Park on Kids N Kritters Day, fasten your seatbelt, put your tray table in the upright and locked position and turn off your iPhone while we dazzle you with our local fashion talent! We have set aside the Sunday before Mother’s Day to celebrate kids and our animal friends. It’s called Wags N Whiskers, Kids N Kritters Day, and on May 7 for the second year in a row we are turning our kids and their moms loose on a specially built fashion runway right in the middle of town. This week we’ll preview our fashionistas. As we get closer we’ll tell you more about the many kids’ activities and the awesome animals that will visit that day.
The brainchild of GiGi Garcia, owner of It Takes A Village, a unique kid’s boutique, and Mary Dawson, show commentator and co-owner of Revelation Tops –next-door neighbors in the 2300 block of Honolulu Avenue – the show features kids’ and women’s fashions not only from their shops, but from a number of other Montrose fashion sites. And in addition to showing off their merchandise, shop owners and their kids will be our runway models! Watch for mom Jackie and daughter Nattie from Village Boutique, Adrian and her girls from J’Adore Boutique and Carolyn from Veruca Salt with her daughter – or her dog (either one works for this event!).
Merle Norman Cosmetics will be doing the makeup for the moms while M-N co-owner Kim Kelly will glide down the runway with her nephew who is also modeling. Kids’ hairstyles are courtesy of Bubble Cuts and Montrose Candy Company will provide sweet treats. Bellies, Babies and Bosoms will create gift bags to be taken home by a lucky few. All in all, this May 7 Kids & Moms Fashion Show is truly a neighborhood affair here in the Montrose Shopping Park. Show time is 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of Ocean View Boulevard and Honolulu Avenue. Come early, seating is limited. For more information visit us on our website shopmontrose.com.
This Sunday our Harvest Market features new games in the Kid’s Area including street chalk drawing, the beautiful guitar sounds of Dave Winstone, fresh just-picked farm produce and a variety of just-baked loaves of breads. It’s all here at the Market! And don’t forget . . . many of the Montrose Village shops and restaurants are open on Sunday.
