The Pasadena Showcase House of Design started in 1965 as a fundraiser for the Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee, now known as the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts. Back then tickets cost $1.50 and included coffee and cookies. Approximately 7,500 visitors came through the house to see the showcase. The proceeds from that initial Showcase House more than doubled the PJPC’s annual funds, totaling $11,000, which was donated to the Continuance Fund, now known as the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association.
Today, the Showcase House continues as one of the largest annual house and garden tours in the country. Tickets range from $35 to $45, and the event welcomes nearly 30,000 visitors in the month it is on display. And from April 23 to May 21, guests have a chance to be among those 30,000 to see the beautifully redesigned Showcase House for 2017 in Pasadena. For tickets, visit PasadenaShowcase.org.
