Arrest of Five Burglary Suspects in La Cañada

By Mary O’KEEFE

On Tuesday at 8:19 p.m. the Crescenta Valley Station received a call from a resident whose home in the 400 block of Paulette Place in La Cañada security alarm had activated. The resident was not at his home at the time. When deputies responded they saw two men running from the location.

One of the suspects was quickly detained while the other ran off. Deputies contained the area and air support responded; however, the second suspect was not located. During the search for the second suspect a third suspect was discovered in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in front of the house that had been burglarized. While deputies detained the third suspect, a vehicle attempted to enter the containment area. The two occupants of that vehicle were found to be from the same South Los Angeles neighborhood that the other suspects were from.

All four of the suspects were arrested for suspicion of residential burglary.

Then at about 6 a.m. on Wednesday a resident contacted the CV Sheriff’s Station and stated he had witnessed a “suspicious” person walking out from the trail that was near the home that had been burglarized on Paulette Place. The person fit the description of the outstanding suspect that fled from deputies the night before.

The fifth suspect was arrested as well.
