La Cañada High School eighth grade student Ryan Morgan won the Boys 14 and Under Singles Division of the prestigious 117th Ojai Tennis Tournament on April 30, besting Ojai resident Takeyasu Sekiguchi 6-4, 7-6 (4).

The Ojai tennis tournament’s history dates back to the turn of the 20th century. Past champions of “The Ojai” include Jack Kramer, Arthur Ashe, Billie Jean King, Pancho Gonzales, Jimmy Connors, Tracy Austin, Michael Chang, Lindsay Davenport and Pete Sampras.

Ryan, currently 13 years old, is ranked in the top five in Boys 14 USTA (United States Tennis Association) Southern California Section. Ryan has been playing competitive tennis since the age of 8.
