Richard John Brehme Sr. passed away peacefully on May 3 surrounded by his wife Judith Jones Brehme and his six children. He was pre-deceased by his wife Mary Ellen Brehme (1995).
Dick attended Glendale College and Cal State LA and served in the U.S. Army. He had a successful career spanning over 40 years in the oil industry. He worked under Dan Lundberg, a beloved mentor and friend, and rose to manager of petroleum sales at Signal Oil and Gas. Dick advanced to president of Lerner Oil and continued in the oil industry until his retirement. He was considered a major figure in the age of independent petroleum sales and a gentleman by all who knew him.
Dick’s Catholic faith remained paramount in his final days along with the love of his family.
Dick is survived by his wife Judith; children Richard Jr., Max, Kathleen, Martha, Jennifer and Patrick as well as his daughters-in-law Kimberly, Sandie and Sylvia; sons-in-law Doug and David; 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, six nieces and one nephew.
A funeral Mass is being held on Saturday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 4651 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta.
Private internment at San Fernando Mission will be on Monday, May 15.
