At 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, California Highway Patrol received a call concerning sightings of a bear on the Foothill (210) Freeway at the Pennsylvania Avenue onramp eastbound.
The bear, according to CHP Officer Bejar, was reported to have walked off the freeway and onto surface streets; however, at about 10 p.m., the bear walked back onto the eastbound freeway at La Crescenta Avenue. The bear was struck multiple times by vehicles.
“The bear suffered fatal injuries and was taken by Animal Control,” Bejar said.
“There was no tag on the bear to identify it,” added Andrew Hughan of U.S. Dept. of Fish & Wildlife.
