To continue giving updates on the development of interstate 210, the California Dept. of Transportation (Caltrans) will close westbound Foothill Freeway (I-210) Angeles Crest Highway on-ramp and Ocean View Boulevard off-ramp beginning Monday, July 17 at 7 p.m. as part of a pavement rehabilitating project. The ramp closure will remain in effect August 2017, weather permitting and subject to change. Detour signs will be posted. Flatiron West. Inc. is the contractor of this $148.5 million project. Once the project is completed in 2018, the new surface will provide a smoother drive for motorists, reduce time required for maintenance and minimize the need for further lane closures.

We celebrated the independence of our nation on July 4th at CVHS with a full display of fireworks, music, dancing and games for the kids with several food trucks. More than 5,000 people were there to celebrate with us. This display and event were organized by the CV Fireworks Association.
On a more emotional note, Dr. Cynthia Livingston, principal of Rosemont Middle School, is retiring after 28 years with GUSD. The Crescenta Valley Town Council will honor Dr. Livingston at our July 20 meeting.
This past Tuesday, July 11 the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors authorized the purchase of two Sikorsky S70i Firehawk helicopters for the Air Operations Section of Los Angeles County Fire Dept. The two helicopters will cost about $29.45 million and are scheduled for delivery in December 2017. Also, Supervisor Barger announced a $1.6 million grant to enhance open space and parks in the Fifth District.
To the residents of the unincorporated area of La Crescenta/Montrose, the residential Street Lighting Survey will be available soon. The LA County Dept. of Regional Planning will be mailing the survey forms to all property owners, one survey per property. Responses to the survey can be mailed to LA County Dept. of Regional Planning, 320 W. Temple St., 13th floor, room 1360, Los Angeles, CA 90012 or drop it off at the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd. or at the Sheriff’s Station at 4554 Briggs Ave.
