The annual Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament was held at Scholl Canyon Golf Course on June 30.

The event is two-fold; one is that the day provides a great excuse to get together with friends to play a round of golf and it is also a way to help students combat the increasing costs of a college education with the distribution of scholarships.

Scholarship recipients at the event were Annie Blood, Jackie Dall and Jessy Shelton. Avery Barnes was unable to attend. On hand to help with the distribution of scholarships were Assemblymember Laura Friedman, Glendale board of education member Shant Sahakian and standing in for Senator Anthony Portantino was Vickere Murphy.

After the morning on the links, golfers were treated to a meal of salmon and steak cooked on-site by Zeke’s Smokehouse.

Taking the trophies for the day, winning first place overall, was the foursome of Bernie Geestman, Al Zowolko, Al Bourque and Jimmy Jones. Coming in second were Ron and Clayton Geer and Herb and Chris Marshall. In third place were Frank and Ron Williams, Craig Nelson and Chris Ercek.
