Dr. Scott Anderle has been announced as the new Rosemont Middle School principal. He will have some big shoes to fill with the retirement of Cynthia Livingston.
Livingston has been with Glendale Unified School District for 28 years, with the last seven of them being at Rosemont Middle School. She brought her own positive attitude to Rosemont, which was appreciated by students, staff and parents.
Anderle has been with GUSD since 1996 when he started as a teacher at Glendale High School. He served as teacher specialist, then assistant principal at Toll Middle School and Glendale High before assuming the role of assistant director of Student Support Services in 2012. Dr. Anderle attended Occidental College, Cal State, Northridge, and earned his doctorate from USC, according to a GUSD statement.
He has worked closely with parents in the Crescenta Valley area on issues that include the Sagebrush territory transfer and Clark Magnet High School.
He will officially begin his duties as Rosemont principal on July 19.
Additionally, there will be two new faces among the administration staff at Crescenta Valley High School. Replacing Assistant Principals Sungsook Kim and Linda Mackessy are William “Bill” Gallimore and Jordan Lessem.
Gallimore comes from Burbank Unified School District where he has served as an American Sign Language teacher and color guard coach for the past 15 years. In addition, he was the faculty chair and Beginning Teacher Support & Assessment advisor. Gallimore is a graduate of San Francisco State University and Cal State, Northridge. His diverse background in special education and extra-curricular activities bring a new element to the leadership team at CV High School, according to a GUSD statement.
Lessem has been an educator with Los Angeles Unified School District for 12 years, the past two years as assistant principal at Calabasas High School.
“He is a collaborative leader and believes in maintaining open lines of communication with all school stakeholders. Mr. Lessem is a graduate of University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Cal State Northridge. His previous experience and background will enable him to hit the ground running at CV,” stated GUSD.
Other changes announced within GUSD include: Interim Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources/Director of Classified Personnel Richard Tauer.
Tauer is a retired school district employee and current consultant with Education Support Services Group, which provides school districts with instructional and operational support. He has more than 40 years of experience in education, including extensive experience in Human Resources. He previously served as Superintendent of Westminster School District. His first day at GUSD will be July 19.
Coordinator I, FLAG Program – Dr. Nancy Hong. Dr. Hong is currently a principal in Temple City School District. She received her doctorate from USC where she completed her dissertation on the principal’s role in dual immersion programs. Dr. Hong will oversee all of the district’s FLAG programs and assist in developing the district’s FLAG secondary pathways. Dr. Hong will be based at Franklin Elementary. Her first day will be Aug. 2.
Assistant Principal, Wilson Middle School –Bonnie Landry. Landry has been a teacher specialist for the Professional Development Dept. for the past year. Prior to that, she was an English teacher with Burbank Unified School District for eight years. Her first day at Wilson will be July 19.
Teacher Specialist, Armenian FLAG – Miganoush Melkoian. Melkoian is a current teacher at R.D. White Elementary. She will support the FLAG programs at Jefferson and R.D. White and assist in developing the district’s FLAG Armenian secondary pathways. She begins her new role on Aug. 14.
Teacher Specialist, Korean FLAG – Ms. Unis Choi. Choi is a current teacher at Keppel Elementary. She will support the FLAG programs at Monte Vista and Keppel and assist in developing the district’s FLAG Korean secondary pathways. She begins her new role on Aug. 14.
