With just two weeks until The Campbell Center 3rd Annual Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament, spaces are filling up fast – but not all are gone yet. The fundraiser is a popular community event that appeals to both poker pros and newbies alike. Sponsorship opportunities with attractive marketing benefits as well as player spaces are still available for those who take action now.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 26, will start with check-in at 5:30 p.m., followed by a lavish buffet, a poker lesson and, lastly, the tournament at 7 p.m. The evening will also include some of The Campbell Center clients who will be in attendance to meet, greet and host the players at the buffet service. This year, the no-host bars will offer spirits in addition to beer, wine and other refreshments.
“Now in its third year, the fundraiser has developed a loyal following, participants who appreciate the importance of having a good time while doing good for a great cause,” said event committee member Robert Schacht, CEO of San Fernando-based Westfield Hydraulics and member of The Campbell Center Foundation board of directors.
The event is open to players, would-be players, sponsors, or those who just wish to support or cheer other players on. There are also sponsorships available ranging from $500 to $2,000; individual player buy-in is $100. Spaces will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. Online registration is open now at www.thecampbell.org, Events section. Complimentary valet parking will be provided.

The Campbell Center was founded in 1954 as a nonprofit organization by the late Phyllis Campbell and her husband Jerry. The impetus for launching the organization was their daughter Janice who was born with Down syndrome and whom no school within the Glendale school system would accept because of her disability. While initially the organization was focused on serving children, over the ensuing 63 years, it has evolved into an agency whose mission is to partner with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to successfully gain independence and attain their desired outcomes through opportunity and choice.
