A routine traffic stop garnered more than just a citation for the driver and passengers.

On Monday, at 1:05 p.m. Glendale police officers stopped a vehicle at Foothill Boulevard and Dunsmore Avenue for not displaying a license plate.  

According to a GPD statement, officers smelled marijuana when they approached the vehicle. During the investigation the officers learned that three of the four occupants, from Long Beach,  were on probation for burglary. All were dressed in bulky clothing.

A further search of the vehicle discovered a black mask, gloves, bent screwdriver and a hammer. Officers reportedly also discovered the suspects had planned on burglarized a business in the area.

The male driver and three male occupants were arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of burglary tools. Two of the suspects were juvinelles, 15 and 17 years old. The other suspects were 18 and 21 years old.

“The Glendale Police Department routinely stop vehicles that do not display license plates. This is a great example of good police and investigative work that led to four arrests. A strong message that we are sending to these crooks coming into our neighborhoods to commit crimes…you come to Glendale, you will be arrested,” said Tahnee Lightfoot, GPD spokeswoman.
