Updated 5:05 p.m., Friday: According to Nathan Judy, the Grand Fire is 80% contained. Firefighters and crews were there overnight containing it to 2.5 acres. The nearby campground is still closed; it is hoped that it will reopen for the Labor Day holiday but as of right now it’s still closed.

The U.S. Forest Service responded to a fire in the Angeles National Forest in the Mt Disappointment area on Thursday.
“We have two LA County [water dropping] helicopters, one from Orange County and our [U.S. Forest Service] air tankers,” said Nathan Judy, spokesman for U.S. Forest Service.
They also have crews with dozers. As of Thursday night, the fire had covered between a quarter to a full acre of land.
Campers and hikers in the area were evacuated. Investigators were on their way to the scene. There were no structures in danger at the initial time of the call out, Judy said.
This was named the Grand Fire. There is no estimate of when there will be containment.
