La Crescenta Presbyterian Church announced its new director of Student Ministries Cameron  Hackett.
Hackett, a native of Portland, Ore., has been working for Intervarsity serving as a campus pastor at Claremont McKenna College for the past four years. Prior to his work at Claremont he served as a campus pastor at Occidental College also for Intervarsity. He received his bachelor’s degree at Occidental College where he majored in English.
A former Beaverton High School basketball standout, Hackett incorporates sports into his ministry. “Sports are a great way to get to know the kids,” he said. “At Claremont I played in numerous basketball leagues and found it to be a good way to connect with the students on campus.”
Hackett is married to Erna who leads a professional band called, “Erna and the Pretty Boys.” She also serves as a Christian speaker.
“Cameron is a perfect match for our church and this community,” said head pastor Andy Wilson. “He has hit the ground running and we are so fortunate to have him here.”
Hackett already has numerous events planned for the school year including the 6th Annual In-N-Out Burger Formal in September and multiple mission trips to the Dominican Republic in 2011. “My wife and I are thrilled to be a part of La Crescenta Presbyterian Church and everyone has been so welcoming to us,” he said.
