Next week is Labor Day weekend. Time to kick my feet up, sit in the backyard, sip a crisp lager, and let my 200 pound Rotweiler “Pinky” run riot in my neighborhood. Ah, relaxation – how I long for your languid embrace! But as much as I would like to sit idly by and let myself doze away, I’ll have to get back to work come Tuesday. Why? September is a busy month for the MVCC!
Why, next week is our Foothills Community Expo, for example. The Foothills Community Expo has been the introducing the region to its businesses for the past decade. It may surprise a lot of people to discover the wealth of services that can be found right here in the Crescenta Valley area. If you’ve never taken a stroll down Honolulu Avenue or Foothill Boulevard to see what you can find and enjoy, don’t pass on this chance to visit the Expo. And with free entry you have no excuse not to come. We’ll also be offering the free services of the SCORE shredding truck to any patrons who wish to shred their sensitive documents. Come to the Expo next Wednesday on Sept. 8; doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the event ends at 8:00 p.m. If you’d like more information, please call the number at the end of this article to learn how you can attend the Expo.
Artwalk is coming by soon as well – on Saturday, Sept. 18. While I may not bring my smock, beret, and washable markers this time around, I’ll still be there with our Artwalk captain, Laurie Jo Phillips of Laurie Jo Designs, to watch over the event. Artists of all stripes can be seen at each and every Artwalk. From charming pastels to arcane and whimsical abstract paintings, the Artwalk has it all. Who knew the area bred so much talent? As always, Artwalk is free and will be held along the sidewalks of the 2300 and 2400 blocks of Honolulu Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It’s a great chance to see some amazing art or to just spend a quiet afternoon with the family.
