At the end of the business day on Friday, Glendale City Manager Scott Ochoa informed city employees that he was considering a position in another city that he had been offered, said Tom Lorenz, spokesman for the City of Glendale.

“I am a finalist for a city manager position in another city. Should this new employer make the appointment at their regular Oct. 3 meeting, I will tender my resignation here and my last day in Glendale will be Nov. 17,” Ochoa said in an email to city employees.

At this time, the Glendale City Council is in closed session discussions concerning the matter and no firm decision has been made, Lorenz said.

Ochoa ended the email message with, “It’s meant the world to me, and it’s truly been an honor and privilege to work alongside you,” Ochoa wrote.

Ochoa has been city manager for six years. Information on the “other city” was not released.
