Carolyn (White) Baldwin


Feb. 13, 1943 – Sept. 29, 2017

 

Carolyn (White) Baldwin passed away in Glendale on Sept. 29 at the age of 74. She died peacefully after a year-long battle with cancer with family members at her bedside.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Michael Baldwin; two sons, Mike and Mark; and eight grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Harvard White (father), Loraine White (mother) and Harvey White (brother).

Carolyn was born on Feb. 13, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the age of 8, her family moved to Southern California where she met her junior high school sweetheart Michael (Mike) Baldwin.

Carolyn graduated from Glendale High School in 1961 and soon after she and Mike were married on Oct. 7 of the same year. Carolyn attended Glendale College and received an associate degree in child development education. She worked for Pac Bell starting in the mailroom and quickly worked her way to upper management. Upon Mike’s return from military service, Carolyn and Mike spent six months in Virginia where they conceived their first child. Back in Glendale, Carolyn stayed home to raise the kids while enjoying tennis, camping, boating, water skiing and snow skiing. She went back to work for several years as a teamster working for South West Administrators before resuming work with Pac Bell. She was active in the American Legion auxiliary and community events. Carolyn was instrumental in fundraising and rebuilding the Two Strike Park War Memorial Wall in 2013.

The funeral is scheduled for Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. at Montrose Church at 2409 Florencita Dr. in Montrose. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall located at 4011 La Crescenta Ave. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carolyn’s life.
