Long time La Crescenta resident James W. Ryan passed away on Sept. 7. He was 80 years old.
James was born on March 22, 1929. He lived most of his life in La Crescenta with his wife and five sons. Known as an honest and giving man, James was active in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Never known to say “no” to someone who needed a hand, James picked up a brush and painted the entire interior of the church long before it was remodeled.
He spent much of his life piling his boys into the car and taking them to their sporting events, never missing one. In his free time he raised pigeons as a hobby. An “old school” man, James was a good guy who will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Suzanne, and his sons Tim, Joe, Neil and Damian, and their spouses. His son Mike predeceases him.
A public service is planned for Sept. 17 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 2411 Montrose Ave. in Montrose.
