This Week at LCIF
All are invited to Lutheran Church in the Foothills on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. to continue a special series of sermons and activities in anticipation of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation! Pastor Scott Peterson will preach on the topic of “Dual Citizenship.” Please stay for coffee and donuts in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
All are invited to the church’s annual talent show on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Those who’ve “Got Talent” are encouraged share it and for those who don’t, come enjoy the talents of those who do. Desserts will also be served.
Then on Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. the church hosts its annual Trunk or Treat. There will be decorated trunks, treats, special guests and activities. It’s free and everyone is invited!

Meeting Life’s Challenges at CSL
Dr. Mark Anthony presents classes every Wednesday night in October at 7 p.m. at Center for Spiritual Living-La Crescenta. These classes will provide the tools and strategies to enable attendees to meet life’s challenges from within and to experience a sense of genuine fulfillment and purpose.
Oct. 18 is Happiness & Relationships.
Every class will end with a guided visualization or group hypnosis session. Each class is designed to stand alone. Suggested love donation is $10 for each class.

The Center for Spiritual Living will be having it 2nd Bi-annual Foothills Healing Arts Faire (formally known as the Metaphysical and Artisan Faire) on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

St. George’s Offers Ethics Series
St. George’s Episcopal Church is hosting a six-week course created for the wider community entitled, “Ethics: The Final Frontier.”
The class meets Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the church hall.
$5 donation for refreshments is requested; free to attend series.

Getting Ready for Empty Bowls
The 10th Annual Empty Bowls event is on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at CV United Methodist Church. For a $20 donation, local chefs will donate delicious soup to fill a ceramic bowl of the diner’s choice. Guests can come and choose their favorite bowl, fill it with soup and enjoy the music and good company with friends and neighbors. The $20 donation will go towards feeding the hungry in Tujunga and Pasadena. The empty bowl then can be taken home as a reminder that there are people in the world who do not have enough to eat.

‘Women of the Bible’ Presented at La Crescenta Presbyterian
The community is invited to learn about the extraordinary “Women of the Bible” at a new class on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church. The class is part of the church’s free midweek program for adults and children. Other classes for adults include: “More Like Jesus: Conversations on Core Issues of Faith” and “Creative Bible Journaling,” a fun group that creates art pieces inspired by faith. Special programs are available for children from infants through eighth grade. And two choirs that rehearse on Wednesdays welcome new participants.
The PEAK (Praise and Education for Adults and Kids) programs, which run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Wednesday, are free. Come early and feed the family! A nutritious, delicious and affordable meal ($3 for adults and $2 for kids) is served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Our Lady of Lourdes Rose Cottage Preschool is hosting its annual Trick or Treat Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 21 from noon to 3 p.m. There will candy, silent auction, games, prizes, food and more.

Trunk O’ Treat at Shadow Hills Pres
Shadow Hills Presbyterian Church will have its annual Trunk O’ Treat on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Safe and fun trick-or-treating for the whole family with games, including old fashioned cake walk, face painting, raffles, food, children & adult costume contests, and car decorating contest!

Bi-annual Foothills Healing Arts Faire
The Center for Spiritual Living will be having it 2nd Bi-annual Foothills Healing Arts Faire (formally known as the Metaphysical and Artisan Faire) on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition to a variety of healing practitioners, the event will also feature available for purchase handmade gem stone jewelry, art (variety of styles), health products, natural body products, books (authors will be present at the faire), yoga apparel and clothing of various styles.
Everyone is encouraged to attend, including metaphysical students, art afficinados and anyone who is ready to experience information on an alternative lifestyle.

St. George’s Offers Ethics Series
St. George’s Episcopal Church in La Cañada will be offering a six-week course created for the wider community entitled, “Ethics: The Final Frontier.”
The six-week mission is to watch six different “Star Trek” episodes to explore, discern and name ethical problems, and to discuss how these issues related to our lives in the 21st century. The goal of the class is to boldly go where no evening program has gone before!
The class will meet Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the church’s newly renovated and rebranded church hall named The Nourishing Spirits Center. The group will end its ethical voyage on Nov. 14.
To cover the cost of refreshments, a $5 donation is requested at the door or a $20 donation for the entire series.
