Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church is planning its 10th Annual Empty Bowls event on Saturday evening, Oct. 21 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. For months, church members, Crescenta Valley High School students and other potters in the area have been creating one-of-a-kind bowls. On Saturday, they can be purchased and filled with soup! For a donation of $20 per adult and $15 per child (12 and under), people can choose their own bowl and soup, enjoy a meal with delicious breads and then take the bowl home. All money raised helps feed those in need in the local community with proceeds going to the Bailey Human Care Center in Tujunga, Friends In Deed House and the United Methodist World Service Fund.
For those who ever wanted to try soup from Hill Street Café, El Charro, Frank’s, Joselito’s Mexican Food, Kitchen Gourmet, Los Gringos Locos, Magpies, New Moon, Pepe’s, Rest Farmhouse Inspired, The Dish and Zeke’s, this is their chance! Also featured will be two favorite recipes from CVUMC cooks. The soups will be paired with breads from Berolina Bakery.
CVUMC is most thankful for the 12 local restaurants and bakery that are donating food and are showing their concern for all members of the community.
All are invited to settle in with a meal of soup and stay for a while. There will be musical entertainment, a raffle, silent auction, speakers from the non-profits receiving help and the opportunity to visit with others.
With over 400 bowls out of the kiln and ready to go, there seems to be a color, style and size for everyone. The tough part will be deciding which one to pick!
CVUMC is located at 2700 Montrose Ave. in Montrose. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/cvemptybowls/ or phone the church office Monday thru Thursday at (818) 249-6173.
