Doris Gaer Boulware, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 7 at
Windsor Manor in Glendale. She was 103.
Born on Jan. 14, 1907, she was raised on a dairy farm in Creighton, Neb.
Doris was a school teacher and a prize-winning fiction writer. She had been a resident of Glendale since 1930 and a member of Glendale Presbyterian Church for over 70 years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband William Strong in 1943; her second husband LeRoy Boulware in 1963; and her son Richard Strong in 2009.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Ludell Strong Western of Monrovia; four granddaughters, Ellen Strong of Reno, Nev., Karen Strong Hagler of Carlsbad, Kristin Western Anderson of Altadena, and Elizabeth Western Hall of Westlake Village; and seven great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, Sept. 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Glendale Presbyterian Church – Edmunds Chapel.
