Dignity Health – Glendale Memorial Hospital held its annual Wine & Roses event at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena on Oct. 8. From the moment guests stepped through the doors of the elegant hotel, they were welcomed by event representatives including an adorable puppy that would be finding its forever home during the evening’s live auction.

Chief Philanthropy Officer Wayne Herron was among those who greeted guests at check-in, making everyone feel welcomed as they made their way into the ballroom. The ballroom offered a variety of silent auction items, beverages, passed appetizers and – in keeping with the theme of the event of “Cirque Fantastique” – stilt walkers.

As bidders made their final offers for a variety of items ranging from trips abroad to fine wines, the stilt walkers directed guests into the main room where dinner was served.

In addition to “magical entertainment,” a brief film was shown about the work that Dignity Health – Glendale Memorial Hospital performs, benefitting patients specifically and the community in general.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Humankindness Award. Justin Johnston accepted the honor on behalf of his father Eddie Johnston who passed away earlier this year.
