The majestic Abbott & Sieker pipe organ at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church will take the spotlight during a free recital on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.

The community is invited to hear the works of Bach, Liszt and other masters performed on the towering organ as well as on piano and trombone. LCPC organist Lindsay Aldana and bell choir director Alex Waggoner will lead the unique concert, which will include an engaging discussion of the instruments’ history.

Sunday worshipers come to LCPC’s 11 a.m. classic service to hear the rich harmonies of the pipe organ, as well as the church’s cathedral choir, bell choir and great hymns of the ages. At 9 a.m., a contemporary service, led by LCPC’s praise band, offers new songs of worship accompanied by guitar, keyboard and drums.

Launched by Dr. Benjamin Briggs in 1885, La Crescenta Presbyterian is the oldest church in the Crescenta Valley. Today, the church has more than 480 active members and is known for its dedication to mission work in the community and around the world.

Friday’s free concert invites the community to share in LCPC’s rich history and musical traditions. There is no charge for this event; proceeds from a free-will offering will be used to maintain these instruments for the enjoyment of all in the Crescenta Valley.
