Even though the Prom Plus Boutique on Saturday had moved to a new location, it was obvious that word of the change had gotten out. The boutique, which is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for Prom Plus, had traditionally been held at St. Luke’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church but, due to a scheduling issue, the event had to move to another location. Fortunately Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation stepped up and the event was held at Crescenta Valley Park in the community room.

The event was a success, according to organizers. The Prom Plus board thanks the vendors and the shoppers who came out to support Prom Plus.

“We were nervous because of the new location, but we ended raising over 10% of our annual budget,” said Robin Goldsworthy, president of Prom Plus. “We’re very grateful to the vendors who had such lovely items for sale and to the public for its support.”

In addition to the more than 30 vendors selling everything from lipstick to jewelry, from linens to clothing, there was an opportunity drawing, bake sale and live entertainment from the Monday at JoJos and the Crescenta Valley High School Charismatics. The event began at 9:45 a.m. with a salute to veterans. The CV JROTC presented the colors, the Rev. Kirby Smith from St. Luke’s gave an invocation and patriotic music was performed by Monday at JoJos.

Prom Plus is a post-prom party for CV High School seniors and their guests. It is held at the Crescenta Cañada YMCA after prom from midnight to 5 a.m. For more information, visit the organization’s website at www.promplus.org, email info@promplus or contact (818) 248-2740.

Prom Plus is looking for adult volunteers to help support this 20-plus year organization, from helping at the Prom Plus event to the many fundraisers throughout the year. Prom Plus holds meetings on the last Monday of every month at St. Luke’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church, 2563 Foothill Blvd.
