The La Crescenta Woman’s Club held its annual authors’ luncheon recently with well known authors Patricia Smiley, Denise Hamilton and Naomi Hirahara sharing their thoughts on writing, their characters and their paths in becoming an author.

Patricia Smiley, above, author of books including “Pacific Homicide,” shared how she went from volunteering at the Los Angeles Police Dept. to writing a detective series.
