Owning a store in the Montrose Shopping Park, I get to meet a variety of customers. Most are local, but there is a good portion of women from places far and wide that make Montrose a destination. They come with a friend or in a group to stroll, eat, and shop. I have been hearing the same message from them all – things like: “Where are all the special little stores? We have enough salons and restaurants now.” Well, the good news is one of those unique stores is coming back and the response has been thrilling.
My husband Dale and I are pleased to announce Mountain Rose Gifts will be celebrating its grand reopening this Saturday, Sept. 18 in a new location that is very dear to our hearts. You see, when we first discovered Montrose, the very first person we met was Jay Drayman, father of City Councilman John Drayman. I can vividly remember Dale and myself, 10 years ago, standing at the counter of Jay’s studio, where he had his business for 25 years, as he generously gave of his time to advise us. Jay has passed on and his legacy for serving the town lives on in his son, John. We are honored to be opening in that same spot and continuing with Jay’s counter. It is a piece of Montrose history and a daily reminder of a dear friend and his heart for this town.
We have taken this historic spot and restored it, uncovering the hidden skylight, stripping the floors, polishing the original concrete, and brightening the walls. It feels good to be there and it is the perfect home to showcase all the brand new goods we have been shopping for all year. The new Mountain Rose Gifts will be opening with all the latest, tasteful Fall and Halloween décor we are known for. I can truly say this is going to be the best year yet. There is so much newness and novelty. Everything in the store, including all of the special furniture pieces, is brand new. So we do invite you to celebrate with us. Our new location is 3808 ½ Ocean View Blvd., between COPPS and the Montrose Barber Shop – literally steps away from the old store. There is plenty of free parking right behind us.
