Dunsmore Elementary was honored by the Little Tokyo Rotary Club on Dec. 8 with the planting of two Peace Trees, Ginko Biloba seedlings. The seedlings are survivor trees that sprouted and grew following Hiroshima’s atomic bomb. Mrs. Makiko Nakasone, member of the Rotary Peace Educational Project, presented the seedlings along with Frank Saito, past president of the Glendale Rotary Club. Students in Dunsmore’s Japanese FLAG program, along with other students and teachers, proudly accepted the trees, which will be planted in Dunsmore’s Japanese Friendship Garden.
The Rotary Club also donated books written in Japanese for Dunsmore’s library.
