The Crescenta Valley High School boys’ basketball team isn’t blowing away the competition in the Pacific League, but so far, so good, as the Falcons were 3-0 in league heading into Wednesday’s game against the Muir Mustangs.

CV surprised many when it won its first league game Jan. 3, downing the Bulldogs 65-60 at home.

The Bulldogs, perennial league champions, had a fine outing from their star Bryce Hamilton, but couldn’t slow down the Falcons’ Arman Pezeshkian, who went off for 39 points. Pezeshkian has been on fire all season, and is one of the go-to players for Head Coach Shawn Zargarian. Both Pezeshkian and guard Chris Arzoumanian helped the Falcons pull out a close win at Hoover High last Friday, 62-58. Arzoumanian led the team with 19 points, and Pezeshkian put in 17, including a big three-point play with under a minute to go.

Coach Shawn Zargarian is pumped up after a big play helped his Falcons in the win over Hoover.

The Falcons came back home on Monday and beat Glendale 61-56. No surprise here: Pezeshkian racked up 30 points.

The Falcons were 10-6 overall as of Wednesday, and were tied with Muir in league, which means the winner would take over first place, albeit with a long way to go before the season ends.
