Riding the Wave of Momentum … in Commerce
The New Year is underway. By now we all have had a chance to reflect on 2017, assess the upcoming year and adjust our intentions for a profitable 2018. As a community, the Crescenta Valley endured the Creek Fire in 2017, and now we greet 2018 with great optimism for renewed growth. Over the year, we will see regrowth on our hills, just as we hope to see continued growth in our economy. Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce looks forward to continuing to facilitate economic growth and support strong commerce in our community.
We have a lot to celebrate in this first week of 2018! We celebrated the first baby born at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital on Jan. 1 at 7:34 p.m., born to Heidi and Oscar Amador. The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce business members provided the proud parents with a gift basket filled with baby-related goods and services.
We start off our year with the installation of the board of directors of Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Jan. 11. During the installation luncheon, we will distribute $20,000 in grants from Mary Pinola/CV Chamber Educational Endowment Fund to various community organizations. Next, we will unveil a newly restructured business member, The Accountancy, formerly known as Sadd Velazquez Higashi Shammaa, LLP at our January mixer. The mixer will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. at their office in Glendale.
The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce will facilitate the expansion of our economy within the community by encouraging our members to support other businesses members. According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Dept. of Commerce, the third quarter of 2017 resulted in a 3.2% increase in real gross domestic product, instead of the predicted 2.5% increase. We hope that our local businesses felt the increase, and we will continue to provide support for our members. We anticipate more good news in the Jan. 29, 2018 publication of the fourth quarter increases.
Just as the plants in the fire zone are mending, the Amador family settles in with their new baby, and the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce installs new board members and issues grants to our community, we look forward to sharing good news about our business members throughout 2018!
