The Crescenta Valley boys’ varsity soccer team has already clinched at least a share of the Pacific League championship after it defeated the Muir Mustangs 4-1 on Tuesday. The Falcons are 15-4-2 overall, 10-0-1 in league. They end their season next Thursday against Arcadia. Burroughs is second in league at 7-3-1. The Falcons meet Burroughs on Friday and, if CV wins, it will win league outright.

Heading into Wednesday’s action, the Falcons’ girls’ varsity basketball team was in first place in league after it beat second-place Glendale on Monday. The 51-50 victory was made possible by CV guard Rachel Dayag’s free throw with seconds left in the game. Dayag missed her first attempt, setting the stage for an exciting final attempt.

CV improved to 18-5 overall, and 9-1 in league while Glendale slid to 8-2. After Wednesday, there were three games left in the season. CV plays Friday at home to Burroughs at 5:30 p.m. The Falcons host Burbank on Tuesday at 5 p.m. and play at Arcadia next Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to end the regular season.

The CV boys’ basketball team demolished Hoover last Friday, 63-38, but then lost a close one to Glendale on Monday, 62-60. The loss dropped the Falcons to 6-4 in league before they played Muir on Wednesday. The team was 13-9 overall. CV was still in a playoff spot, in third place in league, behind Pasadena and Muir, and in front of Burbank. The Falcons play Friday at home to Burroughs at 7 p.m., before finishing the season on the road at Burbank on Tuesday at 5 p.m., and Arcadia next Thursday and 7 p.m.
