Kathleen I. Leroy

Kathleen I. Leroy, 68, peacefully passed away on Sept.12 with family by her side at her home in La Crescenta.
Born in 1942, Kathleen was the only surviving child of Edward and Eunice Baller. Eunice died when Kathleen was 10 years old. Soon after, Edward married Edith, Eunice’s sister, and Kathleen happily gained four step-siblings.
She graduated from John Marshall High School, then studied teaching at Brigham Young University. After several years of teaching elementary school, she became a paralegal. Kathleen later became the coordinator of the Paralegal Program at California State University Los Angeles with the goal of helping aspiring paralegals learn practical and procedural skills.
Kathleen believed in, and celebrated, the beauty of the human spirit. As a teacher, mother, paralegal, mentor, caregiver and artist Kathleen’s lovingly open personality quickly attracted friends in all facets of life. She enjoyed music, books, square dancing, travel, entertaining and spending time with her family and friends. Her contagious smile, playful personality and enthusiasm for nurturing people and animals will be sorely missed.
Kathleen is survived by two brothers, Charles Cowie and Wade Baller; two sisters, Linda Bennett and Barbara Gull; two sons and their spouses, Erick and Larisa Leroy, and Marc and Veronica Leroy; daughter and her spouse, Natalie-Anne and Christopher Romer; significant other of 20 years Henry Lopez; and two Bichon Frises, Marty and Teddie.
Memorial services will be at noon on Oct. 2 at Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn in Glendale.
