I Love the Nightlife
All are invited on Friday, Feb. 9 for a new evening program at Deukmejian Wilderness Park. There will be a lecture on “The Weird and Wonderful World of Bats” on Friday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Learn why bats are so unique and why we should all learn to love them. Swing Night at CVHS
The community is invited to kick up its heels at Jazz Night at the Café on Friday night, Feb. 9 at the Crescenta Valley High School cafeteria. The school’s award-winning jazz band will be providing dance music to swing to.
The dance begins at 7 p.m. and a free swing dance lesson will be given at 7:30 p.m. The cost to attend is $8 for students with ASB card, students and adults $10, reserved table and four tickets is $60. Questions can be referred to Dena.Blood@yahoo.com.
CVHS is located at 2900 Community Ave. in La Crescenta. Entrance to the café is at Glenwood and Prospect avenues just east of the main school entrance.
Rosemont Preserve Habitat Restoration
All are invited to explore the outdoors and help restore native habitat at the Rosemont Preserve on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come see the new trail and help remove some invasive plants and water the young trees. Learn about the biodiversity project on iNaturalist and discover how to become a citizen scientist!
Please bring water to drink and wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.
Park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave, La Crescenta, and then walk north two blocks to enter the Rosemont Preserve. No reservations required, no pets please!

SMART DriverTEK Workshop
On Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m., Bob Smith Toyota will be hosting another SMART DriverTEK workshop. Sponsored in part by AARP, this workshop offers information on safe driving practices for drivers 55 years and older and offers information in technology advances and accident avoidance systems.
Attendance to the workshop is free and popcorn will be served.

Battle of the Badges Blood Drive
All are asked to support the annual Battle of the Badges blood drive on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The bloodmobile will be parked in the visitor parking lot of the sheriff’s station at 4554 Briggs Ave. in La Crescenta.
